Happy D-Day

Yes, apparently the first Friday in June is National Donut Day (fooled you, didn't I? You thought I meant the other D-Day).

Neither of which are to be confused with National DoUGHnut Day* which is in November. Because donuts are so awesome they need two celebratory days, I guess.

* Until I wrote that I never realized that "doughnut" has the word "ugh" in it. Which is just ridiculous, right? Because NOMZ.

That was actually a lot more serious than I first thought! I didn't know they had donuts during WW1. Learn something new every day!

I know, me too! I was all set for something frivolous-n-fried, and I got...HISTORY!

I had 2 donuts today ... to celebrate the occasion of course. :)

A Boston cream and a raspberry filled. Delicious.

You are a true devotee and a dedicated celebrant. Well done :)

Err... I'm just a greedy woman who had a long work week and needed a hit of fat and sugar. But you can believe whatever you want.

You've got to check out the dessert that I made today. I was going to wait til Wed to post it but probably won't wait much past tomorrow. I took a relatively healthy, ok, maybe it's just not too bad for you, and turned it into something that makes no claims to being healthy.

But at least it's not fried. :)

*Scratches head* Wait... what... ? You mean it was doughnuts that stormed the beach at Normandy? Quite impressive, for a cake-like confection.

The "ugh" is obviously in the word because it's what you say when you eat too many of them.

Yes! Of course the Berliners were defending ;)

I like your reasoning on the "ugh" -- makes all kinds of sense.

I'd give 'em two days. Gah! I try not give them *every* day! M.
