Your pop culture news update

Clark Kent is quitting his day job with a major anti-infotainment rant about the state of the news media today. No mention yet of what the Man of Steel's new job will be -- anyone want to take a guess? Put it in the comments, we'll see who gets it right.

In other news, Spotify has discovered that music is apparently a turn-on. Thank you, Captain Obvious. The list of songs is a little surprising though; I'm amused to see that one in three participants identified Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody as a song that is "better than sex." I dunno, for big symphonic rock I think I might go for a little Nightwish.

Friday Mr Psmith and I are off to Pennsylvania for some big-time fun or, as we like to call it, hangin' with the Tudors and partying like it's 1590. Friday night we have tickets to Blackmore's Night in concert -- first time seeing them live and I'm VERY excited. If you go in garb (as of course we shall) you get special up-front seating :) Then Saturday we're off to the PA Ren Faire -- ale! Empty Hats!! weirdly anachronistic food items!!!

It really just doesn't get any better than this. I predict that A Good Time Will Be Had By All.

Clark Kent quitting the Daily Planet? I'm pained. I'm really pained. What will Perry say?

I hope you have a blast at the Ren Faire; those always looks like such fun. (I want that spiced pumpkin bisque. And what -- you mean they didn't have buffalo chicken pizza in 1590? How backward of them!)

I remember when Bohemian Rhapsody was released and was played so regularly on the radio (which was pretty much permanently on in our college workrooms) that, by the end of a couple of hours listening to that irritating falsetto I would cheerfully have taken an axe to anything that moved - if that's what the writer means by 'better than sex' I'm glad I'm asexual.

Will you do the fandango?

Only if Beelzebub has that set-aside he promised me...

Too much of a good thing can be a bad thing, yes. I'm sure many a DJ has wanted to off himself after the bazillionth request for Stairway to Heaven, heh heh...

It could just be that the Queen listeners have had bad sex???

Though I do like Bohemhian rhapsody

Freddy Mercury FTW! But I don't think I'd call it better than sex, no.

Perhaps Clark will start blogging for the Huffington Post? :D

*snicker* I enjoy Bohemian Rhapsody, but it's not on my list of pieces that I'd say are better than run-of-the-mill sex (e.g., the final movement of Mahler 2 springs to mind, the flower duet from Lakme, etc.).

Ooo, have a wonderful time at the concert!! And the Ren Faire sounds like a blast- I hope you get lots of pictures! :D Yay yay yay for eventful and fabulous weekends!

LOL! Yep, I could see him at HuffPo. Or he could inherit Anderson Cooper's tight black t-shirt at MSNBC.

Festival should be festive, yes -- we're looking over the program even as we speak and have already determined we need a Time-Turner :o
